Apart from the incredible wildlife that helps define South Georgia, any visitor will be struck and inspired by the islands staggering and imposing mountains. Mount Paget is the highest peak on the island at 9629 feet (2935 M) high. This hat helps celebrate the mountain landscape of South Georgia.
The island, about 170 km (105 mi) long, is located at almost 55 degrees south latitude, and is exposed to the intense and incessant flow of the westerly winds, which bring disturbances, able to cause rain or snow throughout the year.
Given the temperatures, snow is more likely to occur from mid-April to October, but it can sometimes occur even in summer.
